At Custom Guitar Atelier, we create made-to-order guitars and basses with a focus on craftsmanship, individuality, premium materials, and long-term playability. From the initial specification review to final setup and quality inspection, every instrument is developed around the requirements and vision of the player.

Custom Guitar Atelier is a U.S.-based company. Our custom instruments are manufactured through our specialized production facility in China, supported by an international team with production and engineering experience from the United States, Korea, China, and Japan.

By combining international component sourcing, detailed customization, experienced craftsmanship, and comprehensive quality control, we are able to create distinctive instruments built according to each customer’s selected specifications.

Premium Tonewoods & Materials

The foundation of a quality instrument begins with the materials. Depending on the model and selected configuration, our instruments may feature carefully selected premium tonewoods imported from Japan and Korea.

Available woods may include Mahogany, Maple, Alder, Ash, Basswood, Ebony, Rosewood, Walnut, Koa, Black Limba, and other specialty tonewoods depending on availability and compatibility with the instrument design.

Wood selection is considered together with the construction requirements of each instrument to achieve an appropriate balance of stability, appearance, weight, resonance, feel, and playability.

Depending on the model and customer’s selected specifications, we offer components from respected manufacturers around the world.

Built Around the Player

We believe a custom instrument should feel personal in every sense. Depending on the model, customers may select or request specifications for the body wood, neck wood, fretboard, pickups, electronics, bridge or tremolo, machine heads, hardware color, finish, inlays, bindings, scale length, fret size, and other construction or design details.

Before production begins, our Master Guitar Luthier and Production Team review the selected specifications and customization requirements. If clarification or technical adjustment is necessary, our team contacts the customer before proceeding.

Quality From Production to Final Setup

Every completed instrument undergoes a comprehensive multi-point quality-control process before shipment. Depending on the instrument, this includes inspection of the construction, finish, neck alignment, fretwork, hardware, electronics, tuning, intonation, action, setup, playability, and overall cosmetic condition.

Our goal is not simply to create a visually distinctive instrument. We aim to deliver a guitar or bass that has been carefully built, inspected, adjusted, and evaluated as a complete musical instrument before it reaches the customer.
